ORKIST live on LondonPirateRadio.co.uk 1st March 2016

Thanks for stopping by to listen to our latest sounds. We’ve had another week of listening to some great new music, in particular recent sets from:

This week’s set starts off with some of our favourite deep house tracks before getting its funk on into some breakbeat with plenty of rolling basslines and then finally back out into tech house with a little minimal.

Let us know what you think. We’re really enjoying these sets on London Pirate Radio and have just arranged to play longer sets every Tuesday evening from 8pm – 12am UK time.

Old Skool Hardcore Breakbeat – londonpirateradio.co.uk

Last week we covered another slot for londonpirateradio.co.uk on Friday evening which felt like the perfect time to dip into our old UK Hardcore and Breakbeat tunes.

This set sets a good pace from the start with plenty of classic tunes and a few jungle and remixes thrown in too.

It’s the first purely old skool mix we’ve released here so we’d love to hear whether you enjoyed it and any tunes which stand out for you. Cheers, Dan & Ben

It was our first show on LPR – we really enjoyed and you can catch us live every week from 10pm-12am Tuesday evenings (UK time).

Thanks for listening and as always, we’d love to hear what you think of the set – cheers, Dan & Ben

Hey everyone, thanks for stopping by to listen to our latest set. We’re back a little later than usual this week with some new sounds journeying from progressive house, tech house, minimal and breaks. We’ve slowed it down, sped it up and ended up coming out somewhere in the middle, so let us know how it sounds for you..

Genreaction XXV

We’ve had a fantastic week speaking to producers and dj’s about their recent releases – there’s so much great music to discover and of course share with you all. Also there’s a possibility of a future radio slot which we’re really trying to organise into somewhere in our busy schedules, if you’d like to be kept up to date with notification of any new releases or shows, jump over to our website and sign up for our email newsletter: https://orkist.uk

This week’s set takes in a wide range of genres from deep and progressive house to electro and breaks. It’s upbeat and full of positive energy to keep you motivated so we want to hear where you’re listening, how you like the mix and also what you are doing while listening – it’s always interesting to learn a little more about all of you lovely listeners.

As always, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to listen, have a good week! Dan & Ben

Hey party people, thanks for stopping by to hear our latest set. This week the mix just happened without effort or disruption and as most of you know, there’s nothing like that feeling when you’re creating sounds and the life force is flowing through you – you feel on top of the world – or in layman’s terms ‘buzzin man’

This week’s mix starts with a little breaks, then journeys through progressive house, into minimal and back out to finish with a little more broken beats.

We’ve been loving the recent sets from https://www.mixcloud.com/TheSnooze/ and https://www.mixcloud.com/JayWoodward/ so if you get a chance, have a listen to these guys – great stuff!

Let us know your thoughts on this week’s set and any others you’ve liked recently so we can go and check them out too. Have a good week – Dan & Ben

BreakFeast – Nu Skool Breaks & Breakbeat

It’s the weekend and as promised here’s a little breaks mix to start your day off in the right mood. In our opinion you can’t beat a very good breakbeat track, you can include so many elements from different genres in breakbeat while still sounding completely unique and fresh.

Let us know whether this set hits the spot for you and whether you’d like us to post some more solely breakbeat mixes. We know there are a lot of new mixes which you’ve contacted us about and we have them scheduled to listen to, so will be commenting over the coming days. As ever, thanks for your support and positive energy – Dan & Ben

P.S. Let us know of any sets you’ve really enjoyed this week in the comments..

Welcome friends! After one of the best nights of music I can remember at Lowdown in Manchester (thanks Steve Thorpe) this weeks set is minimal and minor. We step out to some tech house and bring in a few melodic techno sounds but the vibe is definitely a little darker and harder than some of our recent mixes.

We’ve got a Lowdown inspired breaks set to come later this week, so keep your eyes open for that, but for now, thanks for checking us out, we hope you enjoy the set and please leave us a comment with your thoughts. Dan & Ben

Back again, this time with the weekly Genreaction set. Thanks for stopping by, we hope to give your brain and ears something tasty to digest today 🙂

The set starts upbeat before delving into some darker minimal sounds and then coming out the other end with some progressive and deep house, and we struggle not to include some broken beats, so there’s a little older breakbeat creeping in at the end.

This week we really enjoyed the mixes by Beto (Beto Barreiro), David (Dalorex) and Peter (Peter Provics) – all really great sets to listen to.

As ever, thank you for listening and sharing your thoughts and recommendations. Dan & Ben.

Deep House Trip

Thanks for your continued support – a great community we have here, filled with some stunning talent! Oi Oi!

A bit more chilled, this set. A blend of Deep and Progressive House and some vocal tracks, tied together with nice prominent melodic basslines, to take you on a journey up, down, and up again.

At 120BPM it’s certainly the most down-tempo mix we’ve released, so we would love to hear your feedback – and if you want to hear more like it.

But don’t stress! We are continuing regardless with the Genreaction series, the sounds that you know us for – Tech, Progressive, Minimal and Breaks. Let us know if this more relaxed vibe pushes your buttons, and we may do some more in the future.

Peace and Love to you all

Ben and Dan

Breakbeat Classics, Old School Drum & Bass and Hardcore

Time for a bit of fun. This is a classic drum and bass/jungle and old school hardcore set. These are genres from our early 20’s when the rave scene was in full flow here in the UK. Parties were free and the atmosphere and music were the most important elements of the night.

The DJ’s travelled across the country throughout the night to play up to 5 venues in a single night and any promising DJ’s, sometimes as young as 14 or 15 were welcomed into the scene to play sets in front of hundreds of happy music lovers.

Let us know what you think in the comments – and thanks for listening! Dan & Ben.

Hola amigos – we’ve had a great week being introduced to so many new and amazing DJ’s and tracks. Particularly enjoyed Nina Kravitz on BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06vfz4p) if you missed it, it’s worth a listen if you love minimal and having just bought tickets to see Koma & Bones play for the frst time in many years we have to mention one of their best sets too (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIma5Vho1gg).

This week’s set is a journey from breakbeat to minimal and back again, bringing in some tech house sounds here and there before some older breaks to round it all off.

Hope you enjoy – let us know if it works for you, Dan & Ben.

Genreaction XX

The twentieth release in our Genreaction series of mixes – it feels good to have reached this milestone. We feel that this series is starting to mature and develop into a particular set of sounds which although ranging across multiple genres, work together to evoke memories and feelings and take you on a journey of emotions just like our favourite sets by other djs.

This set wasn’t planned in any way, we just picked a starting tune and let the mix flow from there. Loads of tracks we’ve not played before with some minimal, tech house, breaks and synth. We really had a lot of fun putting this together so hope it’s as good for you listening back as it was for us to make.

Leave a comment to let us know what you think – Ben & Dan

After a short break for a holiday away from the wind and rain, we’re back with a new mix.

This week was another completely unplanned mix which floated across house, deep house, electro, breaks and even a little trance. It’s a slower speed at 125bpm but the difference in music styles still provides the emotional journey which we aim for in a set.

So, how have you been? Got any new mixes you’d like to share with us? We love hearing your recommendations as much as the feedback on what you liked/disliked about this set. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to listen – Dan & Ben

Greetings, salutations…and thanks for providing another week of support and encouragement. We really appreciate the community here and the dedication everyone keeps showing to produce sets which inspire and unearth new combinations of tunes which trigger such a wonderful range of feelings.

This week’s set is a journey with its heart rooted in all things minimal. We start out with pure unadulterated minimal techno and as the mix progresses gradually some tech house sounds raise the feeling before blending some rolling bass and on to our beloved breakbeat 🙂

Hope you enjoy – let us know if it hits the right spot for you, Dan & Ben.

So it’s that time again. New week, new mix set. This week we’ve been thoroughly enjoying the latest grooves from Goingrey, seantonning and emiliano65 so if you have time go check them out, you won’t be disappointed.

This week’s set is more of a house vibe with plenty of deeper sounds brken up with a few breaks and higher tempo basslines to give some feeling and momentum to the mix.

We love hearing your feedback so leave us a comment and thanks for all your support!

One of the big ones this week. The set starts off with a little retro wave and then journeys across breaks, electro, progressive and minimal mixing some recent releases with some classic underground sounds.

Hope you all enjoyed your Samhain weekend festivities – thanks again for all your support and for taking the time to listen and comment.

Hey everyone, thanks for stopping by. We’ve been enjoying so many of the recent mixes being posted on here, in particular Sean’s recent breaks mix was so so good (BRING THAT BREAK BACK!).

This set wasn’t planned in any way, we just picked a starting tune and let the mix flow from there. Loads of tracks we’ve not played before with plenty of broken beats and darker sounds. We really had a lot of fun putting this together so hope it’s as good for you listening back as it was for us to make.
